Erin Casey and Caroline Bowers were selected as Explorers Extraodinaire at Eisenhower Middle School for exemplifying the following characteristics: helpfulness, honesty, considerate of others, tries hard to do what's best, participates, turns in work on time, works well with others, exhibits a positive attitude, submits high quality work, shows improvement in work, and exhibits good behavior in class and other school activities.

Bradley Middle School student Sarah Fritzsche made the 7th grade 'A' basketball team. Sarah endured two weeks of tryouts at 6:30 a.m. in order to make the team.

Canyon Ridge Elementary student Allyson Leigh Atencio won fourth place in the 2007 Kids Philosophy Slam. Atencio was awarded for her essay in which she reveals her philosophical understanding of compassion and violence. The topic question, "Which has more impact on society, violence or compassion?" was answered by students using any creative combination of words, artwork or written essay, short story or poem about the topic. The competition is designed to make philosophy accessible to children of all ages and abilities (kindergarten through high school). More than 5,000 entries from across the nation were submitted.
